Selecting Wooded Flooring
Furniture Floor Pads
There are several choices available for the final appearance of your hardwood décor.
* Flooring material in a plank style is generally wide and resembles strips of wood puts together in one plank. Mostly the planks are between three to six inches. These are installed faster than others, since more area than individual columns is covered by the planks.
* Since strips are small, three inches wide at the most, they make the room look spacious.
* Wooden flooring is usually one large piece of wood. It varies in thickness and is custom made. It can be refinished several times during its life span.
* Parquet floors are hardwood in square shapes, resembling ceramic tiles. While some are glued others are nailed to the floor. If you want a different look, try arranging the squares in a geometric design.
Another other major choice in hardwood flooring is an unfinished or a pre finished format. Most pre finished floors have a factory finish. Being easy to install they are popular. Though slightly expensive, most buyers dont grudge the additional price since it saves time in sanding and staining.
Having installed the floor, the unfinished process of flooring must be completed. Remember to use urethane to coat and stain the wood so that the polish is protected. Several days are spend during the sanding and finishing process. Sufficient time should be allowed for the surface to cure at each stage in the process before sanding. After each stage of the finishing process the floor should be sanded. Use floor sanders for this.
Installing Flooring
Before ordering for the materials for your room, take necessary measurements. A saw is necessary to cut the planks of wood for fitting in the corners and through doors. If you want your flooring to appear professional, take away and trim the baseboards before you start. You can replace these after completing the installation. When the planks are laid the seams should be staggered.
